Most patients who are generally healthy and active can safely take Viagra but it is important to discuss with your doctor prior to taking it.
Viagra should not be taken by patients on nitrate-containing drugs; these are medications used in the treatment of angina.
Other conditions to be aware of when taking Viagra include: heart conditions (chest pain), high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney or liver problems, eye disease, anatomical deformation of the penis and blood disorders (haemophilia).
Alcohol, antihypertensives, ketoconazole, cimetidine and erythromycin all interfere with Viagra. You should avoid taking these drugs while taking Viagra.
Do not use Viagra Professional if: you are allergic to any ingredient in Viagra Professional; you have been advised by your doctor to avoid sexual activity because of heart problems; you are taking nitrates (e.g., isosorbide, nitroglycerin) in any form (e.g., tablet, capsule, patch, ointment) or nitroprusside; you use certain recreational drugs called poppers (e.g., amyl nitrate, butyl nitrate).
